Summary Explanation/Background Information on Agenda Request:
The City of Stuart applied to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $750,000 for the Housing Rehabilitation category in November 2020.
Attached is a CDBG policy that is required to be adopted by the City prior to the grant award. Below is a summary of the policy.
The Affirmative Action/EEO is required for covering efforts to hire MBE/WBE contractors and employment efforts to hire minorities under the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968. Solicitation of MBE/WBE firms during any procurement of services or materials and solicitation of minorities during hiring for any City positions. Affirmative steps are outlined to show documentation of efforts to hire MBE/WBE. Non-discrimination in hiring of employees is covered. The boiler plate language is required by the Small Cities CDBG program.
