FLORIDA'S CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 2 - MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE
Summary Explanation/Background Information on Agenda Request:
Florida’s Constitutional Amendment 2 was approved by voters on November 3, 2020. Amendment 2 increases Florida’s minimum wage from $8.65 (as of January 1, 2021) to $10.00 effective September 30, 2021. The minimum increases by $1.00 every year through September 30, 2026, at which time the minimum wage shall be $15.00. The minimum wage would thereafter be adjusted annually for inflation, beginning September 30, 2027.
This presentation will provide an overview of the City’s current position in relation to Amendment 2, as well as compensation strategies for consideration.
