RESOLUTION No. 82-2020; A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF STUART, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING BUDGET AMENDMENT No. 9 AND CIP AMENDMENT No. 1 TO THE 2019-2020 WATER SEWER FUND AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN, APPROPRIATING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FOR THE DESIGN OF THE KANNER HIGHWAY WATERMAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $29,770.00, INCORPORATING PROJECT INTO THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
Summary Explanation/Background Information on Agenda Request:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be milling and resurfacing Kanner Highway from north of SW Cabana Point Circle to US 1, as well as, completing some drainage improvements along this corridor. The City of Stuart currently has an existing 6-inch ductile iron watermain on the west side of Kanner Highway that has experienced several watermain breaks over the past couple of years. As part of the FDOT milling and resurfacing project, Public Works would like to replace the existing 6-inch watermain at all locations in which the existing sidewalk is proposed to be replaced by the FDOT project.
Public Works has requested Holtz Consulting Engineers, Inc. to provide professional engineering services to prepare construction plans and provide bidding assistance for approximately 1,400 linear feet of watermain replacement from Monterey Road to US 1. See attached scope of work.
The design of the Kanner Highway Watermain Replacement project was not budgeted this fiscal year and came up unexpectedly due to FDOT advancing the Kanner Highway milling and resurfacing project by 3 months to stimulate the economy due to COVID-19.
