Summary Explanation/Background Information on Agenda Request:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has invited the public to provide scoping input on the development of the new Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) to be adopted sometime in 2022. A series of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) public scoping meetings have been held throughout south Florida and public comments will be accepted until March 31, 2019.
The detailed comments and questions to the USACE will provide a framework for regulators to determine what considerations should be included in the next lake regulation schedule, now called the LOSOM.
